CEJAD holds a multi-stakeholder workshop for Legal Gap Analysis Report validation and developing a roadmap for Mercury Added Products (MAPS) Phase out in Kenya at Laico Regency Hotel, Nairobi  as part of the CEJAD/EEB/ZMWG project “Contribution towards early ratification and implementation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury and towards phasing out mercury added products in Kenya– Phase II”.

The purpose of the workshop was for the various stakeholders who participated to validate a new study report on legal gap analysis by allowing  institutions to give their inputs in view existing policy and legal frameworks in Kenya as well the Minamata Convention convention provisions. The workshop was also aimed at developing a road map for the Phase out of Mercury Added Products (MAPS) in Kenya. The purpose of the legal analysis is to strengthen the legal framework and to advice the public on practices that improve human health and prevent chemical pollution in the environment.
