Journalists/Media sensitization workshop
(CEJAD) held a workshop on 3rd may 2018 to sensitize the media and journalist on dental amalgam phase down and Minamata convention as part of project implementation, strengthening civil society organizations collaboration and engagement of policy makers to promote dental amalgam phase down and shift to alternatives in Kenya. The workshop was held in collaboration with Media for Environment Science Health and Agriculture (MESHA). Among the invited guests and presenters were representatives from Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
The purpose of the workshop was to sensitize the media and reporters in Kenya on harmful effects of mercury on the environment and human health, to sensitize the media on Minamata convention on mercury and measures, to phase down /out mercury added products including dental amalgam and to enhance consumer awareness through increased coverage (print and electrical media) of mercury issues in the media and the implementation of convention in Kenya
