CEJAD participates in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources validation workshop to verify data collected on mercury use, release and emission in Kenya at a Nakuru Hotel. The workshop was organized part of the implementation of the Minamata Initial Activities (MIA), a project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Kenya is a signatory to the Minamata Convention on mercury and has been carrying out an inventory of mercury use, release and emissions in Kenya. The Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global agreement to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury. The text of the Convention was adopted by the conference of the delegates on 10 October 2013 in Japan.
