CEJAD featured and interviewed on K24 TV on the effects of mercury exposure to women in gold mining in Kenya following findings of a study conducted by CEJAD in partnership with IPEN on mercury in women of child bearing age in ASGM sites in Migori, Kenya. The study revealed that over half of the women sampled in Kenya measured over 1 ppm in the community which subsists from artisanal and small-scale gold mining.
CEJAD has continued to raise awareness on mercury pollution from ASGM in media in Kenya and has conducted interviews in China Global Television Network (CGTN) Africa, Aljazeera and Reuters (international media) and national print media, Standard Newspaper, The Star to raise awareness on adverse impacts of mercury pollution on human health and environment in mining communities in Kenya.
